Zoo Amphitheatre

Add to plan Remove from plan

The Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre was the first and principal structure built in Oklahoma City by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was established to provide jobs for economic recovery during the Great Depression, and was constructed from native sandstone during 1935 and 1936 by workers who camped near the park. The amphitheatre fell into disrepair in the 1960s, but was restored to its original condition in the late 1970s.

The Zoo Amphitheatre offers many outdoor live music events during the summer, including local and national acts. Known as one of the best places in Oklahoma City to see a massive rock concert, everyone from 80s hair metal band Def Leppard to Oklahoma's own Flaming Lips have played to packed crowds at the Zoo Amphitheatre. This unique outdoor music venue also hosts hard rock festivals with big names as well as concerts with pop and classic rock acts.
