The Tom Mix Musuem & Western Theater houses a large collection of personal and movie items from the silent movie "King of the Cowboys." The museum offers a 30-seat theatre featuring Tom Mix movies and exhibits of this silent western movie star, who once worked as a bartender, deputy sheriff, prize fighter and athletic coach in Oklahoma. He also was a trick roper for the Mulhall and 101 Ranch Wild West shows of Oklahoma. With over 5,000 photographs, it is the nation's most comprehensive collection of personal property of the silent movie cowboy, who lived in Dewey in 1909. Learn about the infamous suitcases during your visit to the museum. Gift shop souvenirs range from Tom Mix shirts and caps to Tom Mix imprinted cups and glassware, plus a large selection of his movies. Movies are shown in the theatre until 3:30pm.
