Celebrate pioneer life in western Oklahoma with a visit to the Pioneer Man statue in Clinton. Unveiled on July 4, 1976, this statue commemorating the hard-working spirit and perseverance of Oklahoma's sodbusters, or "soddies" was commissioned to legendary western sculptor Richard Muno. After casting and finishing the statue, Muno, who also served as art director at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum for two decades, helped dedicate the statue in front of the Clinton city hall. On September 30, 2017, citizens of Clinton banded together to move the statue to a more visible location in front of the Frisco Convention Center.Â
