Pawnee County Historical Society Museum & Dick Tracy Headquarters

Add to plan Remove from plan

The Pawnee County Historical Society Museum & Dick Tracy Headquarters gives an exciting and educational peek into the life of Chester Gould, the Pawnee native who created the Dick Tracy comic strip. The first item that stands out to visitors is the large mural painted on the side of the building to commemorate Gould, who was born in Pawnee in 1900. Inside, find many other pieces of history showcasing this iconic cartoon.
In addition to featuring Dick Tracy, the Pawnee County Historical Society Museum preserves the names, places and history of the Pawnee community. Artifacts from area ghost towns are on display, as well as pieces of Pawnee Tribe history. Genealogy research materials are available at the museum for the use of the public. This Pawnee attraction is located in a historic Oklahoma building that starts to tell some of the history of Pawnee you'll find inside. Visit the museum to see the growth of the small town of Pawnee from exploration to settlement and development through education, arts, agriculture, trade and transportation.
