This historic marker commemorates the meeting between Bernard de la Harpe and the great Chief of the Tonacara in company with the Chiefs of six tribes in 1719 to start trade with them. They traded muskrat, otter, and beaver furs, deer and buffalo hides to be exported to Europe in exchange for guns, ammunition, knives, axes, and cloth.
