Har-Ber Village Museum

Har-Ber Village Museum is a pioneer-era village and history museum complete with shopping and a Visitor Center. Located on the shores of Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees in Grove, visitors can enjoy self-guided tours to experience the area’s history and ecology. View antiques, collectibles and reproductions in exhibitions representing the mid-1800s to the early 1900s in the local four-state region (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas).

Several of Har-Ber Village’s historic buildings were relocated to the grounds, including a schoolhouse, jail and 16 log cabins. Other log structures were built to house collections and are typical for the 19th Century, including a courthouse, bank, stagecoach inn and church, which was built with bricks hand-made before the Civil War. Other replicated buildings include a mercantile, jail and hanging gallows, a doctor’s and a dentist’s office, print shop, post office, drug store and more.

Children will love the hands-on activity stations—a kid’s cabin, nursery, school, jail and saloon. Many new stations added this year! Frequent workshops, events and historic craft and trade demonstrations have become a part of Har-Ber Village’s offerings, including blacksmith demonstrations, spinning and weaving demonstrations and pioneer skills and heritage craft workshops.

Annual special events include Civil War Day, Ecology and Environment Day, Independence Day Celebration, Art on the Lake, Pelican Fest Free Day, Old-Fashioned Fall Carnival, Pioneer Day, and Cherokee Heritage Day.

Visitors enjoy eating lunches and snacks at the on-site picnic pavilion. Take a walk on the scenic 1.5 mile Nature Trail, or shop for unique gifts at The Country Store. Har-Ber Village Museum in Grove is one of the largest antique museums in the United States. Built as a gift to the traveling public from Harvey and Bernice Jones, the museum is a reconstructed turn-of-the-century village full of collections of all types.
