Bryan County Genealogy Library & Archives

The Bryan County Genealogy Library & Archives in Calera has an extensive collection of genealogy resources. Several different local newspapers, dating back to the 1870s and 1880s are accessible on microfilm. Choctaw school and payroll records are available on microfilm as are Bryan County marriage, probate and mortgage records. The all-state census can also be accessed via microfilm. 

The Native American section in the library includes marriage and census records for the Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee nations. Local records available in the library include Bryan County cemetery records and obituaries and school records from 1918-1967. Books, family histories and files containing information pertaining to various surnames are also accessible.

Two computers are available in the Bryan County Genealogy Library and Archives. WiFi is available. Workshops are occasionally held at the library; two in spring and two in the fall. For a fee, volunteers will do research by request.
